Formation of glass-ceramic coating on metal substrate involves melting a glass-forming batch of a predetermined composition, fritting the glass, crushing the glass frit, dry milling the resultant glass particles, wet milling the fine glass particles, preparing a liquid slurry of the milled glass particles, cleaning to-be-coated metal surface, applying the liquid slurry onto the cleaned metal surface, drying, and heating the dried sample.
