Abstract

Diaspore (Al2O3.H2O), is normally associated with china clays or corundum and is seldom found as pure diaspore. Two samples of diaspore from Jhansi district in U.P. were tested for their various properties and the possibility of their utilization for making 60 to 70% Al2O3 bricks was investigated. The test results indicate that these diaspore samples could be used in making bricks, similar to or even better than normal sillimanite bricks. In the bricks thus produced, Al2O3 content may be even up to 70–75% depending upon the quantity of diaspore used. © 1966 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
