Abstract

West Bengal is blessed with many industrially important minerals and among them clay is important.Unfortunately most of the clays of West bengal are ferruginous in nature with high grit content and many impurities, which hinder the wide commercial exploitation. some of these clay sources were identified and fully characterized from the view point of ceramic application and used for the development of blended singular clay suitable for direct use in ceramic industries.Clays were crushed and blended together in a predetermined proportion and beneficiated the mixed clay through conventional and ceconomic methods developed beneficiated singular clay was characterized for various physico-chemical properties at its unfired and fired conditions.
