The method involves selective extraction of Mo-TGA complex on polyurethane foam at 0.5% thioglycollic acid concentration and at 0.1 N HCl. The extracted complex is eluted with acidified acetone (1 ml 5 N HCl + 7 ml acetone) followed by the addition of 2 ml of 1.25 M KCNS for the development of colour, and measurement of absorbance at 460 nm. The method obeys Beer's Law from 0.1 to 10-mu-g/ml molybdenum. The method has been applied to different glass samples and satisfactory results have been obtained.
