Abstract
Studies on development and property evaluation of extra-white glass tiles In Li2O-P2O5-SIO2 system with additions of CaO, MgO and B2O3 have been described. The glass possessed fair working characteristics and corrosion of sillimanite pots during melting was insignificant. On controlled heat-treatment, glasses possessing high mechanical strength and good resistance to attack of acid and alkaline water were obtained. The principal crystal phases appearing at crystallisation temperature were indentified as lithium meta-and di-sillcate.
