Abstract
Fine-grained alumina prepared by usual cold isostatic pressing sintering process was investigated for fatique behaviour under repeated impact loading. The fatigue resistance parameter ws found to be 17.12 while the endurance limit was around 270 MPa which was about 38% of the single impact strength of the material. Fatigue cracks were found to be transgranular near the crack initiation region, the rest being integranular.
