Abstract

With the accumulation of soluble salt in soil clay in the low-lying coastal land, some important and interesting chemical and physical transformation takes place in it. The paper comprises mineralogical and physico-chemical investigation of three salt-affected profiles of Sunderbans area in India. Besides chemical analysis and b. e. c. measurements, advanced physical techniques like infrared spectroscopy, D. T. A. etc. were employed to characterise them.
