Abstract

Thulium-doped silica microsphere laser with a significantly low threshold and an output of 0.8 mW at 1.94 m has been demonstrated using a microsphere of 75 μm diameter fabricated from 1.3 wt Tm-doped silica fiber. © 2011 IEEE.
